This course focuses on providing you with a range of skills
that will allow you to deal with the problems experienced by
other divers. The course consists of a series of academic sessions
with twelve open water training scenarios that build up from
a basic level until you are confident to carry out and manage
the scene of an incident. You will learn how to deal with
incidents such as a tired diver, a panicking diver and even an
unconscious diver.
Having completed the Knowledge Reviews contained within your
Rescue Diver manual, these will be reviewed and corrected as
appropriate by your instructor. You will then go into the water
for the 'hands-on' practical sessions.
To enter the Rescue Diver course, all students must have passed
a first aid training course. AquaStars recommends the Emergency
First Response course provided by PADI (please see relevant section
for details). Students should also have a good level of physical
fitness, be proficient at all basic level diving skills and be
comfortable diving in a wide range of diving conditions. It is
preferable at this level for all students to own their own diving
equipment however equipment can be hired or purchased from our
fully-stocked dive shop at preferential rates. You may wish
to purchase the PADI Encyclopaedia of Recreational Diving
as an adjunct to the your course, which is on sale from our shop.
Completion of this course entitles first time customers to
one year's free membership of the AquaStars All-Stars Dive Club.
The course takes place over four days, including classroom
work and training dives.
